Chapter Twenty-one

Something startles me awake, and I blink against the bright sunlight. Looking around, I realize I’m not in my room. Where the hell am I?

I roll over, finding Wilder sleeping and the night before rushes back to me.

Oh, right.

Wilder fucked me in the locker room and then took me home, where he thoroughly fucked me into the wee hours of the morning. It was amazing.

I’ve always thought Wilder was attractive—how could I not? But watching him now, with all of his walls down, is different. He looks so at ease in his sleep, his rough edges nowhere in sight. His dark hair is ruffled from sleep, making him look even more delicious. The sheet is lying low on his hips, letting me see the expanse of his tattooed chest. I want to trace each of the tattoos with my fingers as I’d started to do last night, but I don’t want to wake him up when he looks so peaceful.

I like waking up next to him. I could get used to this. I can’t help the smile that forms, even as I remember that he said it could only be for one night. Surely after what we shared, he’s changed his mind, right?

My phone dings and I reach behind me to grab it from the nightstand. My eyes widen as I see not only the twenty-plus missed calls and just as many texts, but also that it’s almost eleven in the morning. I was supposed to be at No Holds Barred at ten. Shit, both of us were supposed to be there. I don’t bother checking the messages after I see that all the calls and messages are from Griffin and Soren. They’re probably pissed and maybe a little worried about where I am.

As much as I don’t want to, I know I need to wake Wilder up so we can get to the gym. Not that I have my clothes with me. Hopefully, Wilder can swing by my house so I can grab it before we head to the gym.

Reaching over, I trail my hand over his jaw before giving his shoulder a shake. “Wilder?”

Wilder’s eyes blink open slowly, a small smile gracing his lips. I start to return his smile when his eyes go wide, the smile falling from his lips as he sits up in bed. “What time is it?”

“Almost eleven,” I offer and he curses as he jumps out of the bed.

“Shit. We’re late.” He runs a hand over his face. “I need to shower and get ready. Are you good to get back to your place so you can get ready?”

I stare at him in shock. Is he really going to act like the night before didn’t happen? I know he said it was only the one night, but I had hoped that he would change his mind. But even if he didn’t, he could at least acknowledge the fact that we’re both butt ass naked in his bed. Dread washes over me, and I know this isn’t going to turn out like I thought it would.
